Asthma, inflammatory drugs to cost more

Anti-inflammatory and anti-asthmatic medicines will cost more as the drug price regulator, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has upwardly revised the prices of these medicines.

The NPPA has increased the price of anti-inflammatory drug Solu Medrol AOV injectables in 500mg strength to Rs 664.75 in 4ml vials from the existing Rs 653.66 and it has also increased the price of the same drug in 1,000mg strength in 8ml vial to Rs 1,064.18 from the current Rs 1,046.28, the drug price regulator said in an official notification.

The regulator has hiked the price of anti-asthmatic drug Medrol in 4mg tablets to Rs 344.05 per strip of 10 from the existing Rs 338.96, the notification said.

The increased would became effective from 25th of this month. The regulator has increased the prices of these drugs using the provisions of the Drug Price Control Order 1995.
