In appreciation of its achievements in the field of energy conservation, the union ministry of power has awarded Assam based Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) the second prize of the 'National Energy Conservation Award' for the year 2008 in the refineries sector.
The award was presented by union power minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde, at a function held in New Delhi recently, stated a press release.
The award, which is one the highest awards in the field of energy conservation has been bagged by NRL for two consecutive years now.
This award gives due recognition to the excellent energy performance of the refinery and energy conservation efforts pout forth by the refinery in implementing a number of energy conservation projects.
Furthermore, keeping with its objective of sustainable development NRL has taken stringent measures to preserve the nature's treasure in its surroundings. The Company added another feather to its cap by installing a latest Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station inside the refinery premises.
With the launching of this facility NRL will now be able to continuously measure and monitor almost all the important ambient air quality parameters like Oxides of Sulphur and Nitogen, Carbon Monoxide, Hydro Carbon, Suspended Particulate Matter, Barometric Pressure, Humidity, etc. This would in turn help the company to keep a strict vigil on its emissions and further improve upon its environmental compliance, added the release.
