| Bajaj Auto Limited has targeted a sales volume of 40,000-50,000 units for its latest 125 cc bike- Xceed, which is slated for a national launch in mid-September.

| "Our market share in the 125 cc segment will cross 50 per cent, as against the current 47 per cent with the launch of the all-new bike", Amit M Pawar, regional head of Bajaj Auto Limited said.
|
| |
| Of the total sales volume, 3,000-4,000 units would be from West Bengal alone. Bajaj Auto, which has only 24 per cent share in the 100 cc segment, is expecting greater margins in the 125 cc segment in the wake of a rising number of consumers switching from 100 cc to 125 cc bike.
|
| |
| While the total sales volume in the 100 cc segment dropped from 3,00,000 last year to 1,80,000 units this fiscal, the sale of 125 cc bikes grew from 1,25,000 to 2,00,000 units in the corresponding period.
|
| |
| Pawar also hinted at Bajaj phasing out the manufacture of 100 cc bikes by the year-end adding that such a move would only be precipitated by consumer demand. |
