Bajaj to launch new bike next week
Press Trust of India / New Delhi January 12, 2009, 16:52 IST

The company said in a statement an all new sports commuter motorcycle, the Bajaj XCD 135 DTS-Si, will be launched on January 21.

"Bajaj Auto has a very strong position in the entry segment and the premium segment of the motorcycle market. With the launch of the Bajaj XCD 135 DTS-Si and two more new products in April and July, we aim to garner a strong position in the value segment," Bajaj Auto General Manager Amit Nandi said.

The bike powered by a 135 cc engine will be priced approximately at Rs 45,000 ex-showroom, it said. Bajaj Auto has been hit hard by the demand slump in two-wheeler market and reported a 55.39 per cent decline in December 2008 bike sales at 61,546 units as compared to 1,37,980 units in the same month previous year.
