Big Bazaar eyes Rs 210 crore sales from 'Sabse Saste 4 Din' offer
Tushar Pawar / Mumbai/ Nashik Jan 22, 2010, 00:10 IST

Big Bazaar, the largest chain of hypermarkets from Future Group, has once again come up with their special Republic Day offer of ‘Sabse Saste 4 Din’ from January 23 to 26, 2010, at its all 120 Big Bazaar outlets across the country.

This year, Big Bazaar is eyeing 25-30 per cent rise in sales during these four days, as compared to the same event last year.

“With an aim to provide the best shopping deals and savings to consumers, Big Bazaar is all set to make this year’s Republic Day weekend shopping truly memorable with the best deals and mega offers leading to great savings. More than 50 lakh customers are expected across all 120 Big Bazaar stores, to avail of offers on a wide range of products available across categories like fashion, food, electronics, home needs, furniture and much more as part of this four-day event,” senior official from Big Bazaar told Business Standard.

“This year, we have extended this event by a day from three-day to four-day due to overwhelming response from consumers. During last ‘Sabse Saste 3 Din’ offer, we had achieved sales turn over of Rs. 170 crore. This year, we are expecting 25-30 per cent growth in sales during this four-day Republic Day event. We will achieve Rs. 210 crore sales even we achieve 25 per cent growth,” he said.

“Special offers have been created on the basis of customer insights and past learning. Consumers are always looking for the best value for their money. It is great opportunity for them to save money and get the best products at the best possible prices. We start planning for this event at least 6 months in advance. This gives time for our vendor partners to plan their production schedules to cater to the demand,” he added.

This "increasing to 4 days due to consumer demand" is a good line to quote but far from reality. Just use common sense - this campaign intends to tap the 26th Jan holiday, which is a Tuesday. Every child knows that weekends are the time to go shopping - so 23rd & 24th naturally gets included; leaves us with 25th Monday in between which therefore makes the fourth day. These people should stop assuming themselves more intelligent than the consumers - its high time they limited their games to pricining and promotions.
