Bipasha Basu gets a digital re-launch
Tanushree Ghosh / New Delhi Jul 26, 2010, 00:18 IST

Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu is revamping her image on the digital medium with her website, re-launched by Hungama. The 31-year-old actress is eager to go the tech way, which means she will now be seen actively on Twitter and Facebook, recording her ringtones on the mobile space and actively participating through blogs on her website. Of course, the subjects are what Basu knows the best — films, fashion and fitness. Here’s what the diva had to say about her latest e-avatar:

What gadgets do you love to keep around you?

(Laughs)There is no end to what you can desire. I have two phones, a BlackBerry and Wynncom Y50 QWERTY phone. I also own an Apple MacBook. But what I plan to buy very soon is the 65-inch Samsung 3D Led TV because I love watching sports on big screens. I was recently gifted an Apple iPad. Though I love reading, I am not big on e-reading yet.

You are seen promoting fitness in a big way. What type of fitness equipment will you like to have?
Next on cards is a AlterG Anti-Gravity treadmill that is optomised for physical therapy clinics, athletic training and leading fitness facilities. This is the treadmill Nasa uses for training. The AlterG enables people to run and walk at a fraction of their body weight, thanks to the use of AlterG’s Differential Air Pressure technology that applies a precise and comfortable lifting force to the body for pain-free movement. In simpler words, this machine does not affect your knee and joints.

Aren’t you a little late in launching an official website?
Not really. I had a website, launched two years ago, which I was trying to run individually. It only focused on my filmography and everything related to me as an actor. So, now I have decided to re-launch it with Hungama. The new website www.bipashabasunet.com, seems to be the best way to connect with my fans and get instant feedback from them.

How different will your website be?

I have included a service on the website called ‘Speak to me’, where those who call in will get to know a couple of things about my life, career, along with fashion, besides fitness tips. The website will also have details of my forthcoming ventures and videos where I will give fashion and fitness tips.

Do you voice-blog, too? Which blogs do you like visiting?
I am yet to start voice-blogging but once I start, I intend to follow other famous voice bloggers like Amitabh Bachchan and John Abraham. I believe it is easier to speak your mind and get heard than writing blogs, which takes time and effort. I usually visit websites and blogs of different people — Lady Gaga’s being my favourite.

You have recently taken a liking to Twitter. How active have you been on the world wide web?

I got started on Twitter about 20 days back. On the first day itself, it had 30 tweets. On Facebook, I have a fan page which I check everyday for uploads and I also blog daily on my website. On last count, I had 59,829 followers on Twitter and about 1,006 fans on Facebook.

AlterG can't prove anything they say. After 5+ years and lots of sales and millions in capital raised, and despite claims of many science research efforts underway in 2008, still, no science to back up anything more than what is anecdotal evidence and wild claims. No IRB studies. No Clinical Research. Nothing from MD's. Only case studies and highly speculative guidelines from PT's.
