BPCL's Bina refinery to be completed before year-end
Press Trust of India / New Delhi Aug 27, 2009, 15:06 IST

Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) today said its six-million-tonnes a year refinery at Bina in Madhya Pradesh will be completed before the year-end and will begin fuel sales from next fiscal.

"The refinery will be mechanically completed before end of 2009 but commissioning will take time. A refinery of this size cannot be commissioned overnight," BPCL Chairman and Managing Director Ashok Sinha told reporters here.

Bharat Oman Refineries Ltd (BORL), a joint venture between BPCL and Oman Oil Co Ltd, is building the refinery in Madhya Pradesh.

"We have completed 95 per cent of the refinery. The commissioning will be completed by March (2010)," Sinha, who is also the chairman of BORL, said.

He said the company will buy crude oil cargoes from the spot market for commissioning of the refinery.
