Bharat Petroleum Corporation's (BPCL) overseas partner, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, has encountered more than 145 net meters of natural gas in Windjammer exploration well, Rovuma Basin, offshore Mozambique.
In a release to the Bombay Stock Exchange, BPCL said, "Anadarko Petroleum, operator of exploration block in Rovuma Basin, Area I, offshore Mozambique, has found 145 net meters of natural gas in multiple high quality reservoir sands with a gross column of more than 365 meters."
BPCL's wholly owned subsidiary Bharat PetroResources (BPRL) holds 10 per cent in the block through its
overseas subsidiary BPRL Ventures Mozambique.
Anadarko is the operator with an approximate 43 per cent paying interest in the well. Co-owners in the well are BPRL Ventures Mozambique B V (10 per cent), Cove Energy Mozambique Rovuma Offshore (10 per cent), Mitsui E&P Mozambique Area Limited (23.5 per cent) and Videocon Mozambique Rovuma Limited (11.75 per cent). Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos 15 per cent interest was carried through the exploration phase.
