BPO firm Tricom India plans Nashik centre
Tushar Pawar / Mumbai/ Nashik July 11, 2006
Mumbai-based Tricom India, a non-voice Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) major, is planning to set up its facility in Nashik.

The centre is expected to be set up by 2007 will hire for 1,500 people. However, company officials did not divulge financial details about the proposed facility.

Tricom currently operates across two facilities in Mumbai, and the company took the decision to set up its BPO unit in Nashik at its annual meeting that was held recently.

Tricom India is a non-voice BPO service provider specialising in document management and data capturing. It has presence in USA and India caters to customers in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland and Australia.

Pune is already touching saturation and many IT and BPO companies are reportedly planning to set up their units at Nashik due to availability of adequate land with low prices as compared to Mumbai and Pune, adequate power, abundant water, pleasant climate and most important is an advantage of abundant quality manpower.

Nashik throws up around 300 IT professionals every year, but they are forced to go out to seek job opportunities. But, this situation will definitely change in the next few years due to arrival of IT & BPO majors and these IT professionals will have no need to go outside to seek job opportunities.

Nashik already has abundant quality manpower and IT potential, but IT and BPO industry is still not developed due to lack of proper IT marketing of Nashik.
