British Prime Minister David Cameron will visit India’s IT major Infosys Technologies and defence Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) during his day’s visit to Bangalore on Wednesday.
Though Cameron will be landing here late Tuesday on his maiden official visit to India after becoming premier along with a high-profile business delegation, he will call on state governor H R Bhardwaj before visiting Infosys campus in the electronic city, about 30-km away.
During his two-hour stay at Infosys campus, a presentation will be made to him by top management on it’s global software operations.
Infosys chairman and chief mentor N R Narayana Murthy, co-founder and former vice-chairman Nandan Nilekani, who heads the state-run unique identification project, and other board members will interact with Cameron and his 90-member delegation, including cabinet ministers.
Cameron is the second British prime minister to visit Infosys campus after Tony Blair.
In January 2002, Blair had unveiled the eighth partnership summit of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Infy campus, company sources said.
Before emplaning to New Delhi, Cameron will visit HAL complex for a firsthand account of its various activities and operations. He is scheduled to visit HAL complex after lunch to view various products, including aircraft and helicopters and interact with the top management.
Cameron’s visit to HAL assumes significance as the British defence group BAE Systems is waiting to bag the order for delivering the additional 57 advanced jet trainers (AJTs), Hawk, to the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Indian Navy.
