Broadcast News open to providing content to other channels
Joydeep Ray / Ahmedabad April 20, 2005
Broadcast News, the new channel conceived by former managing editor of New Delhi Television, Rajdeep Sardesai, and former chief financial officer of NDTV, Sameer Manchanda, is open to several ideas including providing content to news channels and not necessarily launching its own news channel, to start with.

Sardesai told Business Standard on Tuesday that the company might even consider launching a sports channel if there was a demand and space for it.

He also said that TV18 Group would remain as a strategic investor for Broadcast News but he denied to divulge the monetary terms between the two companies.

“Broadcast News has not taken a firm decison to launch a news channel at this moment. It would take atleast another two weeks’ to finalise our immediate plans. At this moment, we are focussing on specific kinds of news market,” he said.

Sardesai, who would be the editor-in-chief of Broadcast News, resigned from NDTV after working with the company for 11 years. About the stake-holding pattern, Sardesai said,

“We have decided not to talk about individual stake-holding pattern..” Haresh Chawla, chief executive officer, CNBC-TV18, was also tightlipped on the issue.
