BS People: Harsha Lal
Industry veteran is new GM at Dell
Pradeesh Chandran / Bangalore Feb 21, 2012, 00:05 IST

In an effort to widen its presence and to expand the services reach in India, Dell has announced the appointment of Harsha Lal as the executive director and General Manager.

In his new role, Lal would be responsible for developing new ideas and executing go-to-market strategies for the company’s public and enterprise solutions and services in India. He will also be driving Dell’s corporate plan of enhancing the company’s position as a preferred provider of open, capable and affordable IT solutions and services.

In his previous stint in Wipro, Lal was the vice-president and head for Wipro’s global process manufacturing industry vertical where he was responsible for driving revenue, profitability, customer satisfaction and industry solutions.

Other than his academic excellence, he has got a varied experience of around 26 years in companies like Wipro Infotech, Sun Microsystems and Motorola among others. As an industry veteran, Lal brings to Dell an extensive understanding of sales, marketing and product-line management functions as well as the ability to optimise technology trends which the company feels as ideal to make a strong foothold in the booming Indian market. “It is a great time for us in India and in the past one year itself this business has undergone phenomenal growth and invested substantial resources to build a comprehensive portfolio. I look forward to keep this momentum going and make a strong contribution to the continued growth,” he says.

Lal holds an MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and BTech from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
