Budget would boost development in country: Maha CM

The Union Budget presented today will boost development in the country and give relief to all the classes in the society, Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan said here.
"The important highlight of the Budget was giving security to unorganised sector workers like fishermen, beedi workers, mine workers and also to women," Chavan said.
The Budget has given Rs 500 crore to complete the ambitious Brihan Mumbai Storm Water Drain (BRIMSTOWAD) project and increased JNNURM funds by 87 per cent, Chavan said.
Finance Minister Dilip Walse-Patil welcomed the Budget as it has extended the loan waiver to farmers by six months. The Centre has also alloted more funds for National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme compared to last year, he added.
However, senior BJP leader Ram Naik said the Budget disappointed the middle class.
"The Finance Minister has failed to introduce measures to curb the increasing prices. The Congress government has forgotten its promise given to achieve double-digit GDP growth," he said.
