| C-Dac's anti-malware solution by Sept 2010 |

The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-Dac), Hyderabad, is planning to commercially launch its end system-based malware prevention system by September 2010.
“The three-year project, being designed for both Windows and Linux operating systems, is halfway towards completion. A prototype is already in place and we are currently working on the generic behaviour of the product,” N Sarat Chandra Babu, director of C-Dac Hyderabad, told Business Standard.
With financial assistance to the tune of Rs 1.8 crore from the department of information technology, Government of India, the solution will have features including real time and automated malware prevention, learning acceptable behaviour of applications, guard from application vulnerabilities and monitoring of file, network, registry and memory access.
“There is always a risk in downloading untrusted code due to the possible presence of viruses, worms or other malicious entities. In this solution, no specific malware is considered and any application is treated as an untrusted code,” Babu said.
Babu said C-Dac Hyderabad had developed e-SAVYA (Saral Vyapar Suvidha), a supply chain management solution for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), to simplify their business.
“The solution aims to empower the SMEs to manage their operations more effectively and utilise these tools to introduce technology, discipline and industry best practices into their operations. We are awaiting IT department's approval for technology transfer of e-SAVYA and marketing tie ups with organisations both in India and abroad,” he added.
