Cama Motors to invest Rs 50 crore for expansion
Vinay Umarji / Mumbai/ Ahmedabad Jun 17, 2009, 00:55 IST

After severing exclusive dealership ties with Mercedes-Benz India, Ahmedabad-based Cama Motors Private Limited has now set up a "360 degree" facility, wherein the company providing new and pre-owned luxury and super luxury cars, a high-end refurbish and design studio, and a repair and maintenance centre. In its process to expand its infrastructure and retail operations for its new business divisions, Cama Motors Private Limited will be investing around Rs 50-60 crore over a period of next one year.

"Even as our dealership ties with Mercedes-Benz India ends, the entire business proposition of Cama Motors has now shifted from being company centric to being a product centric. Our decision to go in for a makeover for Cama Motors is based on our thorough study of automobiles market and innate understanding of a car lover's mind. Gujarat is definitely growing as a potential market for luxury and super luxury cars and we plan to sell around 150 cars in the start up phase spanning one year," said Jehangir Cama, chairman and managing director of Cama Motors.

For "hassle free import" of new luxury cars like sports utility vehicles, luxury sedans, coupes and convertibles in Gujarat, Cama Motors has tied up with Magus Cars, said Rustom Cama, executive director of the company. "We have set up a special division of Cama Motors called Cama Signature, which would facilitate hassle free import of luxury cars like Land Cruiser, Hummer, Audi, BMW, Ferrari or Mercedes. The cars will be supplied through our tie-up with Magus Cars.

While Cama Motors has tied up with Lorinser Sports Service Company for offering accessories and add-ons for luxury cars, it has roped in Surat-based Carz Spa, a professional car detailing centre, for automobile beautification and preservation of high-end cars.

Among other car models, Cama Motors will offer supply and servicing facilities for Ford, Bentley, Lamborghini, and Rolls Royce, to name a few.
