A branch of the Cambridge School, Kolkata, the “oldest” and the “largest” Cambridge-affiliated school in Eastern India, would soon come up in Guwahati.
It would be the first of its kind “international” school in North-East and will start its academic session in April 2010 with classes from nursery to Standard VII.
Addressing the press, Pulak Bhattacharya said that the school will offer ‘A’ and ‘O’ level qualifications directly from the University of Cambridge, UK.
“Education at The Cambridge School, Guwahati is intended to develop in students a global outlook while keeping the respect for their homeland. The curriculum is designed in a way to make them familiar with current developments taking place worldwide so that they grow up to be global citizens," said Sarojesh C Mukerjee, director, Cambridge School, Kolkata.
The Guwahati campus will have a state-of-the-art one with air-conditioned classrooms, libraries, activity rooms and science and computer laboratories.
“The curriculum is much more application-oriented than that of Indian boards and will be taught by teachers who would have undergone both theoretical and hands-on training at The Cambridge School, Kolkata,” said Mukerjee.
Future plans, he added, include the addition of one upper class every year and the building of residential facilities.
