Cautious approach
Rex Cano / Mumbai Jun 18, 2010, 00:00 IST

After pulling out money in the previous week, the Smart Portfolios fund managers adopted a cautious approach in employing cash this week. The same can be vindicated by the fact that just ten trades were executed by the four fund managers in the last five trading days. Given the uncertainty over economic developments and monsoon, the fund managers perhaps are waiting for clear direction. The fund managers cumulatively were net buyers of Rs 2.79 lakh. The Smart Portfolios benchmark S&P CNX 500 portfolio value grew by 2.7 per cent to Rs 11.31 lakh.

Ajay Parmar
Head Research Institutional Equities, Emkay

Ajay Parmar executed just one trade wherein he bought 100 shares of eClerx for an investment of Rs 58,000. In the past week, his networth grew by 3.8 per cent to Rs 13.25 lakh. Parmar has 23 stocks in his portfolio, of which Rallis India and Excel Crop Care are the top performers with gains around 45 per cent each. On the other hand JM Financial and JK Tyre are the major losers, down around 17 per cent each. Parmar’s investments are valued at Rs 9.73 lakh, while he holds Rs 3.52 lakh cash.
