| 'CFI will infuse professionalism in film industry' |

Citing the need for transparency in finances in the Indian film industry, ad-film maker, Prahlad Kakkar said the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A)'s elective course for second year post graduate programme in management (PGP), 'Contemporary Film Industry' (CFI) will infuse professionalism in the industry.
"There is some degree of accountability is coming in the Indian film industry. And professionals taking up this elective course will be required to infuse more professionalism in the industry. Professionals from this course will benefit advertising business, television and the film industry alike," said Kakkar, who is a guest speaker for the CFI course at IIM-A.
The CFI course was offered for the first time in 2008 -09 and had a registration of 75 students. This year the number of students who have registered for this course has increased to 148. Spanning 25 sessions over 2-3 months, the elective course aims at giving a general background of the film and entertainment industry in India and abroad. It introduces the students to various kinds of film and entertainment businesses like feature films, ad films, documentary film making, animation films and a glimpse of the global film industry.
"It covers the various dynamics of this rapidly growing industry from a business perspective. The focus of the course is on the business side of the film industry yet at the same time, it gives a basic introduction to the creative aspects of film making such as direction, cinematography, production, screenplay, and post production," said Kandaswamy Bharathan an alumnus of IIMA (1978) and the executive producer of Kavithalayaa Production, who is the co-ordinator for the CFI course.The course has classroom sessions by the teaching faculty and includes guest lectures by leading media industry professionals and production houses. Bharathan added that the course will also feature case studies of some of the popular movies like Ghajini.
