Chana prices moved up by Rs 13, or 0.59 per cent, to Rs 2,222 per quintal in futures trading today, as speculators enlarged their positions, supported by a pick up in demand at spot markets.
Restricted arrivals in the physical markets and some enquiries from dal mills also influenced the chana prices at futures market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, chana for delivery in September moved up by Rs 13, or 0.59 per cent, to Rs 2,222 per quintal, with an open interest of 15,090 lots.
The commodity for delivery in October also rose Rs 11, or 0.48 per cent, to Rs 2,295 per quintal, with a business volume of 1,10,870 lots.
Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators, buoyed by pick up in demand at spot markets against restricted arrivals mainly led to a rise in chana prices in futures trade.
