| Chandigarh in top 4 emerging cities for investment |

Chandigarh has been included among the top four non-tier-I cities where companies from UK could identify the business opportunities. The report is based on the findings of research “Opportunities for UK Plc in Emerging Cities of India” that was published by the UK India Business Council (UKIBC).
The findings of report was shared by Patricia Hewitt, MP and Chairperson. Patricia Hewitt, MP and Chairperson, at CII along with delegates of UKIBC were here to participate in the seminar “Doing Business In and With India”, organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here today.
According to Hewitt, the aim of the report was to identify where and how UK SMEs can take advantage of the opportunities created by growth of India’s first non first tier cities.
The Emerging Cities report, launched by UKBIC would enable UK companies to identify concrete opportunities in relevant sectors, in each of the next generation cities of India.
The report mentions that Chandigarh has potential in sectors including Information and Communication Technology, Food and Drink,Creative media and Life Sciences and companies from UK could target investment opportunities in these sectors.
Speaking on the occasion Paul Grey, Head UK Trade and Investment maintained that there is tremendous scope to enhance the bilateral trade between India and UK and UKIBC is a major step in this direction by being point of reference for companies in the UK and India, seeking to do business.
“We are creating robust framework for Indian and British companies to encourage exchange of goods, services, ideas and capital as simple and profitable as possible”, Grey added.
