| Chhattisgarh power spending at Rs 3,040 cr since 2001 |

Chhattisgarh, which received the distinction of being India's first load-shedding-free state two years ago, has spent more than Rs 3,040 crore in electricity generation and transmission since its inception nine years ago, official sources said today.
Given the adequate production and availability of power in the state, work is on to reach out to the end consumers by establishing new transformers and sub-stations, Energy Department officials said.
In the last six years, as many as 910 villages and more than 8,500 hamlets were electrified, taking their total number to 1,100 and over 12,000 respectively since November 2000, they said.
The state's total power generating capacity was 1,360 MW in 2001 which has gone up to 1,924 MW, the officials said.
