| Chidambaram inaugurates NSG hubs in Hyd, Chennai |

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday inaugurated the National Security Guard’s regional hub at Hyderabad. This is one of the four regional hubs that the Centre promised to set up in the country by June 30 following the 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
Speaking on the occasion, he said about Rs 27 crore would be spent for creating infrastructure facilities at Trimulgherry, about 10 km from the city, where the state government has provided 23 acres.
The hub, with 241 commandos, would operate from a temporary premises belonging to the Airports Authority of India till its own campus gets ready. The NGS can also request the respective state governments to provide an aircraft during exigencies.
Chidambaram inaugurated the Mumbai hub on Tuesday and Chennai hub today morning at Nedunkundaram.
The Chennai hub, built on 85 acres, is the largest commando unit in the country.
A full-fledged NSG regional centre would be also come up at Ibrahimpatnam on the city outskirts. This would be developed on the lines of the regional centre at Manesar near Haryana. Once ready, the centre would train black cat commandos and organise training for police forces in the southern states in VIP security and bomb disposal. It would also train police commando instructors, he said.
