| CIATA demands 85 % reservation in upcoming Ind Area in Chandigarh |

Chandigarh Industrial Area Tenants Association (CIATA) has demanded that 85 percent plots which are going to be developed in forthcoming third phase of Industrial Park in Chandigarh should be allotted to existing Industrial Area tenants.
CIATA represents around 1300 micro, small and medium enterprises of the city that provide employment to around 50,000 skilled, semi skilled and unskilled workers.
President of CIATA, Sanjiv Sagar, while addressing press conference here today said Chandigarh Administration which is in the process of framing new Industrial policy is likely to address the issue of rehabilitating the tenants of existing industrial areas as well. He however expressed concerns that Administration might not agree to the quantum of reservation.
Justifying his demand of 85% reservation for existing tenants, he said that more than 1000 tenant entrepreneurs were engaged in manufacturing more than 50 types of goods and services and had proved their viability. Chances of their success were far greater in comparison with new entrepreneurs, whom Chandigarh Administration seems to be favoring at the moment, said Sagar.
CIATA also demanded that prices of these Industrial plots should be at par with those of neighboring states like Punjab and Haryana.
“Administration could also be little innovative and can come out with multi story plan and auction different floors to prospective buyers,” he added.
Chandigarh Administration is likely to provide 152 acres of land near Raipur Kalan for third phase of Industrial development. The development work in this area is almost complete and plots will soon be offered after the formulation of Industrial Policy.
