Taking initiative to make Himachal Pradesh the first carbon neutral state of India, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) submitted a proposal to the state government with a specific focus on greening existing industry, CO2 emission quantification and disclosure; and policy and road map for Himachal Pradesh.
Speaking at a conference organised at CII Northern Region headquarters at Chandigarh, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Himachal Pradesh Sarojini Thakur, mooted for a bench mark for the industries with an aim to helping the state develop in a sustainable way to accomplish its goals of being carbon neutral. Emphasising on cluster approach, she added specific sectors would be identified in all the major industrial areas and an action plan would be formulated for enhancing efficiencies in energy conservation, waste management and water conservation that would contribute a lot in monetary as well as in ecological terms.
