| In response to the warning signals from IT stalwarts like Azim H Premji and Nandan M Nilekani, Karnataka chief minister N Dharam Singh today met the IT community as well as the members of the Bangalore Agenda Task Force (BATF) to hear the problems and chart an action plant to improve the city's infrastructure.

| The 2-hour meeting was attended by IT leaders like Azim H Premji, chairman, Wipro Ltd, Nandan M Nilekani, president, CEO and managing director, Infosys Technologies, BATF member Kalpana Kar, Vishwanath Iyer from IBM, Romi Malhotra from Dell, Ravi Ramu of MphasiS, Anand Iyer from American Power Corporation and Dr Biswadeep (Bobby) Mitra from TI India.

| Infosys chairman and chief mentor N R Narayana Murthy could not be present at the meeting as he is out of country.

| "We had a free and frank discussion with everyone present. Though our government is committed to work for farmers and rural people in the state, we are not ignoring either the IT or BT sectors. We have assured the industry of meeting their requirements to facilitate its growth and expansion not only in and around Bangalore, but also in other parts of the state," Singh said.

| Deputy chief minister and finance minister Siddaramaiah, minister for transport and water resources M Mallikarjun Kharge, minister for energy and public works H D Revanna and the minister for industries, infrastructure and civil aviation P G R Sindia were also present.

| The meeting was also attended by state IT secretary M K Shankarlinge Gowda, chief secretary K K Misra and other top officials from various departments, including the police and civic administration. On bad roads that has hampered productivity of IT industry, Singh said his government has sanctioned Rs 100 crore. |
