Cong appears to sweep Uttarakhand

In a setback to the ruling BJP, Congress was leading in all the five Lok Sabha seats in Uttarakhand.         

Congress candidate Satpal Maharaj was leading in Pauri Garhwal seat, which Uttarakhand Chief Minister B C Khanduri represented for nearly 15 years, by over 6,000 votes.

In Tehri constituency, Congress' sitting MP Vijay Bahuguna was leading by nearly 20,000 votes against his nearest rival Jaspal Rana of BJP.         

K C Singh Baba of Congress, who is sitting MP, was leading by over 5,000 votes against his nearest rival Bachi Singh Rawat of BJP from Nainital.        

From Almora reserve seat, Congress' candidate Pradip Tamta was leading by 2,000 votes against BJP's Ajay Tamta, who is a cabinet minister in Khanduri government.        

On the Haridwar Lok Sabha seat, Congress candidate Harish Rawat was leading by over 30,000 votes against his nearest BSP rival Mohammed Shehzad.
