Consumer durable cos eye festival season ahead
Vikas Sharma / New Delhi/ Chandigarh Sep 22, 2011, 00:42 IST

Consumer durable companies in the state expect the upcoming festival season would help them in a good growth. It would be interesting to observe the growth trajectory of these, especially, this season, because of the rising input costs.

Even as input costs in the last couple of months have moved up by 20-30 per cent, many of the companies have not taken a call on price revision, as they think it might spoil their business during the season.

Senior officials in Panasonic India maintained the decision on price revision would be taken later.

Even regional officials in Godrej appliances said they were intending to take a call on price revision but the time frame has not been set.

Trying to negate the negative sentiments, the white good manufacturers are busy announcing plans to woo the customers this fesseason, which are laced with freebies.

Regional officials from Panasonic India maintained 17 per cent market share was being targeted for Punjab market as against 11 per cent market share achieved last year.

Ajay Sachdeva, regional manger (north), Panasonic India maintained with festive offers and the new line up of Panasonic’s digital audio-visuals, home appliances and health & beauty products they are aiming at capturing 17 per cent market share in Punjab this festive season.

To attract customers this festive season, Panasonic India has also announced special offers for customers. As part of the celebrations, the company has rolled out a campaign, ‘Dreams come true when Panasonic comes home’ which gives customers a chance to win an international holiday, Sedan Car, Gold Coins (5 gms) and other products.

Digital technology leader, Samsung India said its plans include new, innovative product launches as well as the ‘Samsung Smart Utsav’ promotion offers. Samsung is looking at Flat Panel televisions, including its Smart TV range and its Home Appliance product ranges to drive the growth during this festival period. Whereas, Deepak Jasrotia, regional manager(north) LG Electronics India, said it expected 50 per centgrowth in the in each category.
