Announcement / Corporate Nov 02, 2009, 20:08 IST

Adds 2 million new books, and announces “best ever” deals and quickest shipping.

Though online book retailing is in very nascent stage in India and there are very few players in the business, a survey, commissioned by online bookstore CoralHub.com predicts a promising future for the industry. According to the survey, the online book market in India is expected to grow by 30-35% during next 5 years, and 25% in later years.

The survey estimates the total size of the Indian book market is about Rs.  3750 crore. The online book industry is presently worth over Rs. 59 crore and is expected to witness a rapid growth due to wide scale Internet penetration in tier II and tier III level cities.

CoralHub.com also announced that it has touched 5 million mark with the addition of 2 millions new books. The company which is part of BSE/NSE listed digital content solution company Vishal Information Technologies Ltd, will offer discounts upto 30 percent, highest by an Indian online bookstore, and fastest shipping of imported books available in India. CoralHub also offers the customers an opportunity to resell their books. Through “Sell Books” section, customers can sell their old books to fellow customers who are looking for a specific title at an affordable price.

“Our survey indicated that more and more customers are using online book stores to buy books as it offers the convenience of ‘any-time, any-where’ shopping. It is important that we encourage these with attractive deals and quicker shipping time,” said Prashant Chandrashekar, Director of CoralHub Online Services. “CoralHub offers the highest discount amongst the online book stores (upto 30%) in India and not more than two weeks to ship imported book, probably, fastest in country.”
