Crisis deepen in TRS, rebel leader 'necked out' of party office
Press Trust of India / Hyderabad Jun 15, 2009, 13:47 IST

A day after the suspension of five rebel leaders, the crisis in the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) continued today as a senior rebel leader, who came to attend the emergency meeting of party's state executive, was 'necked out' of the party office here.

High drama was witnessed at the Telangana Bhavan, the party headquarters, as party activists loyal to TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao forced former MP and tribal leader Ravindra Nayak out of the premises.

Enraged over the "insult" heaped on him, Nayak spewed venom at Rao and vowed to make public his acts of omission and commission.

"I was a minister in 1970s when Rao was not even born politically. I had a great history myself as a tribal leader from Telangana. I am insulted today. Rao is an arrogant forward caste leader with a feudal mindset. How can he realise separate Telangana?," Nayak said.

"We have a list of illegal acts of collection of Rao. We will try to make it public. I will expose him in the court of Telangana people," he said.

Nayak's charges were, however, rejected by leaders loyal to Rao who said the rebel leader is levelling baseless allegations because he was denied ticket in the recent elections. The dramatic developments in TRS came a day after the party suspended five rebel leaders for raising a banner of revolt against the party president.

TRS floor leader in the Assembly E Rajender, who is loyal to the TRS president, said the rebel leaders have become pawns in the hands of those trying to defeat the Telangana movement.

"If they have genuine grievances, they should discuss with the party leadership. It is clear that they have become pawns in the hands of those trying to see that the Telangana movement is decimated," he said.

Admitting that the party has suffered a drubbing in the recent elections, Rajender said the leadership would leave no stone unturned to strengthen the party.
