Crompton Greaves inaugurates new plant in the USA

Crompton Greaves Ltd. (CG) part of the US$ 4 bn Avantha Group, today announced the completion of its new transformer manufacturing facility in Washington, Missouri, U.S.A. through its subsidiary CG Power Systems USA Inc. The facility was inaugurated in the presence of Mr. David Kerr, Director, Missouri Department of Economic Development; Mr. Trey Davis, Vice President of Governmental Affairs, Missouri Chamber of Commerce; Ms. Sandy Lucy, Mayor, City of Washington and Mr. Gautam Thapar, Chairman & CEO of the Avantha Group. The new plant is located on the newly named “Avantha Drive” and its address is One Avantha Drive.

Set up with an initial investment of US$ 20 mn, this high tech facility is expected to generate close to 150 new jobs over the next three years. 

Mr. Gautam Thapar, Chairman & CEO, Avantha Group said, “This strategic investment will enhance CG’s product portfolio globally and aggressively build up on the Group’s growth plans.”

Mr. S.M. Trehan, Managing Director, Crompton Greaves Limited, said, “At CG, we are always exploring opportunities of growth and expansion that offer a strategic fit and right value. We are delighted to set up this new facility in USA, and believe that this investment will help CG gain significant consolidation in the engineering, procurement and maintenance segment.”

“This new plant will help us gain access to new markets. More importantly, it will help generate employment for the local people,” he added.

CG supplies the full scope of power transformers from 5 MVA through 750 MVA. This expansion signifies another important step for CG Power Systems USA Inc in their quest to become a total solutions provider in the industry.

CG Power Systems USA Inc is a leading North American manufacturer of three phase distribution and small power transformers through 14 MVA 69 kV, 350 BIL. This next-generation power transformer plant is located at 6349 Avantha Drive, Washington, Missouri  63090, U.S.A and allows CG Power Systems USA Inc to offer to their Utility and Industrial customers, in the Americas region, medium power transformers through 60 MVA 138 kV, 750 BIL.
