Diversified electrical product maker Crompton Greaves is planning to foray into niche market segment of automation of power sub-stations, a top company official said here today.
"We are looking towards automation (industrial control systems operating in concert with information technology) of power sub-stations and are likely to be in that space within next 6 to 7 months," Crompton Greaves Managing Director S M Trehan said.
The company is also looking for overseas acquisitions in order to put the automation project on fast track. The company has an in-house technology for automation, he added.
A market for this kind of automation has to be seeded in India, Trehan said, adding "hardly any Indian company has entered this space till now. ABB is the only global company in this segment."
"CG, a debt free company gets 45 per cent of business share from Power Systems T&D segment, 25 per cent from Industrial systems, and 33 per cent from consumer products," Trehan said.
The company expects a growth rate between 12 to 14 per cent in this fiscal, however the overseas growth will be around 3 to 4 per cent, Trehan said.
