| CRPF battalion reaches Jharkhand for Operation Green Hunt |

After clearing the controversy by the Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren over the deployment of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) battalion for the proposed Operation Green Hunt against the Naxalite rebels, the Union Home Ministry has sent 1,200 CRPF personnel to Ranchi on Friday. The total number of central paramilitary personnel in Jharkhand now stood over 7,000.
The battalion came from Assam and Tripura where it was deputed to fight the rebel forces.
According to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) CRPF, Alok Raj, the headquarter of the CRPF battalion would be at Salgadih in Tamar.
Tamar is being considered as the hideout of dreaded Naxalite leader Kundan Pahan who had carried out a series of attacks on police forces. The area passes through the National Highway 33, the connector of the state capital with Jamshedpur.
The CRPF battalion would be housed at the state-run Industrial Training Institute (ITI) building in Tamar.
The DIG said that the date of commencement of Operation Green Hunt in Jharkhand would be decided in the meeting on anti-Naxalite operations to be held in Kolkata on February 9 where West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and Jharkhand chief ministers would join.
