D-Link India Limited has tied up with Foundry Networks of the United States to foray into the enterprise market in India with a new product basket that includes meshed wireless products and internet protocol private branch exchanges (IP PBX).
"After capturing the small office and home office (SOHO) and small and medium businesses (SMBs) segments, we are entering the enterprise segment. We are targeting enterprises with employees upward of 500. A soft run of the IP PBX are going on at six enterprises and we are in talks with many more", said Dharmendra Kumar, director, enterprise business, while briefing the press.
The IP telephony market in India stands at Rs 350 to Rs 400 crore. Systamax and Cissco are market leaders in the segment at this time, informed Kumar.
The company is also in talks with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited for distribution of its DSL modems for internet connectivity.
Currently, only the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited distributes D-Link modems.
The company is pinning its hopes on the eastern market which contributes to 20 per cent of the enterprise market in India and also to D-Link's total revenue, Kumar said.
D-Link is the second largest company in the LAN market in India, preceded by Cissco. The company has four manufacturing units in Goa and a research and development facility in Bangalore.
