Dabur, Belgium firm tie-up to reduce carbon emission
Press Trust of India / New Delhi Jan 12, 2010, 17:17 IST

FMCG major Dabur today said it has tied up with a Belgium firm for technical collaboration to reduce carbon emissions in its plants and has invested Rs 5 crore for the purpose.

The company said it is rolling out a host of initiatives at its various manufacturing facilities spread across India and Nepal to reduce carbon emissions and become more energy efficient.

While the technology would be first installed in its Pant Nagar plant in Uttarakhand, the company expects to apply the technique in near future to its various units like Newai (Rajasthan), Baddi (Himachal Pradesh), Sahibabad (Uttar Pradesh).

"Dabur is moving ahead full steam on its plans to not only reduce carbon footprint but also emerge as a carbon neutral enterprise in days to come," Dabur India CEO Sunil Duggal said.

He said the company has joined hands with a Belgian firm to establish a boiler technology at its Pant Nagar facility, and has already invested Rs 5 crore on it.

Duggal, however, declined to reveal the name of the firm.

"This new project -- a first of its kind in India -- will use wet herbal waste from the facility as a fuel directly added into a boiler and incinerate the same to generate steam," he added.
