FMCG major Dabur India, which is setting up a local packing facility in Pakistan as part of its plan to expand retail presence in the country and introduce a new range of products, expects the plant to begin commercial operations this year.
“Dabur International is exploring the possibility of establishing a local packing facility in Pakistan. However, we would not be able to share any timelines now,” a company official said. The official also did not comment on the investments in the Pakistan facility.
Dabur India Chief Executive Officer Sunil Duggal, however, has been quoted by an online portal saying that the plant is expected to be operational by mid-October this year.
“We hope to see a major jump in our turnover from the Pakistan business.... We are hoping the plant to start operations in full swing from the second week of October and boost our presence and retail sales,” Duggal told the portal.
Dabur is at present sourcing products for the Pakistani market from its existing facilities in the West Asian region.
