Deloitte join hands with BCI to launch Continuity and Resilience Awards for India
Announcement / Corporate May 29, 2009, 19:18 IST

Deloitte along with the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) today, announced the launch of Continuity and Resilience Awards for India. The Continuity & Resilience Awards is scheduled to take place on 30th September 2009.

The disasters of the 21st century have redefined the meaning of business continuity management making it go beyond an IT disaster recovery issue to a business issue. Enterprises today feel that it is no longer enough to survive a fall, but the business has to recover with minimum disruption and loss to remain intact. This can come only if Business Continuity Planning comes naturally to the organization and its people.

The value of Business Continuity Management (BCM) is gaining momentum and is being appreciated by corporate India more than ever today.

A BCM plan in today’s volatile business environment is seen as essential to the health and growth of any organization. Early adopters of BCM have now started reaping rich dividends in terms of greater client confidence and ensuring a robust business.

Commenting on the launch of the award Mr. Nitin Khanapurkar, Senior Director, Enterprise Risk Services of Deloitte in India said “We are pleased to associate with BCI to host the awards. In the last few years, we have seen Indian organizations make the right moves in order to build Continuity & Resilience for their own businesses and that of their clients as well. Through these awards we aim to reach out to business community and regulation bodies to recognize their efforts and also spread greater awareness about the importance of business continuity through a reputed industry expert such as BCI”.

There are seven award categories identified for this inaugural event: Business Continuity Manager of the Year; Most Effective Recovery of the Year; Specialist Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Company of the Year; Data Centre Recovery Strategy of the Year; Continuity and Recovery Initiative of the Year in the Public Interest; Industry Personality of the Year; and a Special Recognition Award for 2009 for Recovery and Continuity efforts in face of a catastrophe like 26/11.

For those willing to participate, the entry forms can be downloaded from http://www.bcm-india.org/C&RAwards/2009.html  from June 1, 2009
