Delphi launches CNG kit for Indian automobile market
Press Trust of India / New Delhi Jan 11, 2010, 16:44 IST

Delphi, a leading global supplier of electronics to the automobile sector, today said it has introduced CNG kits for vehicles that have been sold to consumers.

"The launch of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Retrofit Kit will help to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions while offering a high-performance product to the Indian Aftermarket," Delphi Product & Service Solutions (DPSS) said in a statement here.

It said the kit is approved to work with all major CNG cylinder brands in India and has been "tested, verified and approved by the International Center for Automotive Technology (iCAT) under both city and highway conditions."

The kit has been approved for two base models of 26 variants of the Euro III system with engine capacity ranging from 795.75cc to 1987.50cc.

"The product, approved by the Transport Department, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, will be available through Delphi’s strong national distribution and service network initially in Delhi NCR (National Capital Region)...," K Ramesh Rao, Country Director, DPSS Indian sub-continent said.

Delphi’s aftermarket product portfolio in India includes four major product lines: Chassis, Vehicle Electronics, Thermal and Consumer Accessories.

Delphi has been operating in India for 13 years and has three manufacturing sites and a technical centre in Delhi and Bangalore.
