Islamabad: A Pakistani anti-terror court adjourns for a week the hearing in the Mumbai attack case against LeT's operations chief Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi and six other suspects after recording the testimony of an investigator.  

Kabul: Operations of the Indian medical mission in Kabul is suspended as much of its staff were either injured or killed in last week's terror attack in the  Afghan capital.

Lahore/Islamabad: JuD chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, mastermind of the Mumbai attacks, alleges that India has "imposed war on Pakistan" by constructing "illegal dams" and diverting water of Pakistani rivers and says the government must prepare the nation to counter this aggression.  

Colombo: India assures Sri Lanka of its support to the process of resettlement and rehabilitation of Tamil civilians displaced due to the war and pushes for a political solution to the decades-old ethnic question.

Los Angeles: 'The Hurt Locker', a gritty Iraq war drama, sweeps the Oscars this year by winning six trophies with Kathryn Bigelow creating history by becoming the first woman director to win an Academy Award.  

Dubai: Legendary painter M F Husain, who was recently granted Qatari citizenship, surrenders his Indian passport to the country's mission in Doha.

Tuesday

Melbourne: An Australian court adjourns till June 29 the hearing of the case of Gursewak Dhillon, accused in the death of toddler Gurshan Singh Channa, with the prosecution seeking extra time to prepare evidence against him.

Islamabad/Lahore: In a significant ruling that could affect the trial of seven suspects charged with involvement in the Mumbai attacks in Pakistan, a bench of the Lahore High Court rules that the confessional statement of Ajmal Amir Kasab cannot be used against the accused.  

Wednesday

Moscow: Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin will arrive in New Delhi on a two-day visit during which the two sides are likely to conclude the long-delayed agreement on aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov and sign defence deals worth $4 billion.  

United Nations: The United Nations launches an independent review of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which has come under much criticism in the recent months.

New York: Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim has emerged as the richest person in the world with $53.5 billion in assets, while Indian industrialist Mukesh Ambani ranks fourth with $29 billion in the US magazine Forbes annual list of world's top billionaires.

Chicago: A US court again turns down the bail plea of terror suspect Tahawwur Rana, accused of plotting terror attacks in India at the behest of LeT, saying the Pakistani-Canadian is charged with "very serious crimes" which give him a motive to flee.  

Friday  

Lahore: Taliban terrorists strike this eastern Pakistani city with two near-simultaneous suicide attacks targeting the Army in cantonment area killing 45 people, including 10 soldiers and injuring 100 others.  

Beijing: Hardening its stance, China says that world's leading search engine Google must obey its rules or "face the consequences" giving no indication whether it is ready to reach a compromise in the dispute over hacking.
