| Dow Corning to tap silicon markets in solar energy segment |

Dow Corning, a joint venture of Dow Chemical Company and Corning, specialising in silicon products, is hopeful of increasing its revenues from India by supplying silicon-related products for photovoltaic module makers and solar farms in the country.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Jean-Paul Mollie, president (Middle East, South Asia and Africa), said several photovoltaic companies were waiting for the national policy on solar energy to be announced to firm up expansion plans.
The company is seeing a big business opportunity in construction, electronics, automobiles and textile segments. These sectors have been seeing an increased use of silicon-based products, he said adding that the company with its joint venture at Hemlock Semiconductor Group has invested over $5 billion in solar over the past five years for providing silicon-based solutions.
“We have committed investments for India in silicon projects but that will depend on how fast the demand in domestic markets increase,” he said.
