Dr Reddy's recalls four products from US market
Press Trust of India / new Delhi Sep 30, 2009, 15:40 IST

Hyderabad-based drug firm Dr Reddy's Laboratories (DRL) today said it is recalling four of its drugs used in the treatment of ailments such as allergy, depression and high cholesterol from the US market.

"The products identified are being recalled voluntarily as a precautionary measure because the affected lots have been observed to contain some over-sized tablets," Dr Reddy's said in a statement.

The company has recalled its Citalopram (anti-depressant) tablets in 40 mg strength in bottles of 100 tablets and Fexenadine (anti-histamine) in 180 mg strength in bottles of 500 tablets.

DRL has also recalled Pravastatin (anti-cholesterol) in 10 mg strength in bottles of 90 and 500 tablets and Riseperidone (psychiatric drug) in 25 mg strength in bottles of 500 tablets.

This voluntary recall is being conducted with the knowledge of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the company said without specifying the impact of the recall on its revenue.

"Our investigations suggest that the issue is isolated to four products, one specific lot per product, four lots in total," it added.

DRL's share prices were trading at Rs 988.10 towards the close of market on the BSE, up 0.05 per cent from yesterday's closing price.
