| eBay ranks Hyd as 6th largest e-comm hub |

Hyderabad is the sixth largest e-commerce hub in the country, according to eBay India Census 2009. India’s top five e-commerce hubs, according to the census that documents the key findings and trends in online buying and selling across Indians in the top 100 e-commerce hubs, 28 states and seven Union territories, are Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Jaipur and Bangalore.
“India had over 2,471 e-commerce hubs in the eBay Census 2009. With Lakshadweep making its debut in the census, all 28 states and seven Union territories witnessed e-commerce transactions. The IT hubs of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra and Gujarat were the most wired states in the country with the most cities where e-commerce originates,” eBay India country manager, Ambareesh Murty, said in a release on Wednesday.
Stating that south India has the most active buyers at 41 per cent of all transactions, followed by west India at 27 per cent, he said west India had the most active sellers at 46 per cent followed by north at 28 per cent.
“Technology got the lion’s share of Hyderabad online shoppers’ wallets at 48 per cent of all transactions. On the other hand, Hyderabad entrepreneurs sold the most lifestyle products at 38 per cent of all transactions to buyers in India. Lifestyle scored on the exports front at 78 per cent of all transactions,” he added.
