The investment in the first phase for the project was pegged at Rs 40 crore.Bulk of the investment was in the equipments, explained S S Mukherji, vice chairman, EIH.

Mukherji also informed that the Cochin and Calicut Flight Kitchen project was very much on. The company would invest in flight kitchens in future. The next Flight Kitchen investment will happen in Delhi near Delhi airport but that would not be anytime soon, he said.

The proposed flight kitchen in Kolkata was expected to come up on five acres on Jessore Road, close to the airport.
