Empowered Committee of Punjab okays 13 new Mega Projects

The Empowered Committee of Punjab approved 13 new Mega Projects to be set up in Punjab with an investment of about Rs 1307.54 crore.

Giving the details Chief minister’s Media Advisor Harcharan Bains said that these approved projects include one manufacturing unit M/s Synnetrix Biotech (Rs 53 crore) at Mohali and one Inland Container Depot Mega Project at Amritsar with an investment of (Rs 65 crore). Besides two industrial park projects namely M/s UniqDwell Infrastructure and Developers at Rajpura in district Patiala (Rs 167 crore) and M/s Oswal Spinning and Weaving Mills at Ludhiana (Rs 207.33 crore) with employment generation capacity of 8,000 jobs both direct and indirect.

Bains further said that the six hotel projects approved included Bharat Hotel at Amritsar (Rs 158 crore), PPR Developers and Builders, Nakodar (Rs 12.44 crore), Cargo Motors (Rs 42.50 crore), Dr Hardev Singh Toor Hotel Project (Rs 12 crore) at Mohali and Impact Senior Living Estates at Amritsar (Rs 43.35).

The empowered committee also approved two Agro based Industrial project namely M/s NV Distilleries and Breweries (Rs 237.61 crore) and Regal distilleries (Rs 72.86) both at village Sandharshi in Patiala district having employment potential for 190 persons.

The Committee also granted clearances to Ms/ Golden Peak Township – a mega housing project with an investment of Rs 202.50 crore for the development of integrated Township consisting of row housing/villas/plots over an area of 185 acres of land in Mullanpur of Mohali district having employment potential for 1,000 persons.

The Empowered Committee had also decided to issue notice to the promoters to fulfill the conditions of Letter of Intent (LoI) and sign the agreement in all the previous cases approved prior to 6 November 2007 where these agreements had not been signed, positively within 6 months, failing which their LoI’s would be canceled.

Further, in view of global economic recession and melt down of the economy, the committee also decided to grant extension in implementation period for one year from the date of expiry of prescribed period in all the mega projects already approved by the empowered committee, instead of granting case to case extensions.
