FEV India expects Rs 60 cr revenues from its new design centre in Pune
BS Reporter / Pune Jul 03, 2009, 14:34 IST

Powertrain designer and engineering solutions provider FEV India on Friday said, it expects to generate revenues worth Rs 60 crore over next 12 months from its new technical design centre set up in Talegaon near Pune.

The technical centre would provide engine design solutions, vehicle testing systems and chassis development services to vehicle makers, FEV India managing director Sushil Berry said.

FEV India is a fully owned subsidiary of FEV Motorentechnik GmbH, a global engineering solutions provider that has almost every vehicle maker as its client.

The newly set up technical centre is fifth one for FEV globally and would provide services such as engines design, vehicle development and testing. FEV has invested approximately Rs 35 crore to set up this centre after the company entered India some three year back.

FEV India has already designed a diesel-electric hybrid engine for Mahindra and Mahindra’s popular vehicle scorpio. It also has a number of projects lined up in the hybrid engines segment. India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki contributes almost 60 per cent to FEV’s India business.

The new centre is expected to generate revenue worth Rs 60 crore during the first year of inception.

“Our India centre would primarily work towards engines and chassis development. Also, we are looking at selling our testing systems as a product to various Indian vehicle makers,” added Berry. The company globally generates business worth Rs 1,200 crore annually out of which almost 80 per cent comes from engineering solutions while the remaining is attributed to testing systems.

“We are looking to expand our base in wind power turbines, marine engines, big ship engines and small boats. We also have presence in air crafts segment. However, our India centre would initially focus on automobile segment only,” he concluded.
