No new Hindi films will be released in the country from Saturday as film producers began their indefinite strike after their long standing deadlock over revenue sharing with multiplex owners failed to reach any solution.
Producers are demanding equal share in ticket sales from the multiplex owners, while the latter want “performance based” revenue sharing. Producers and distributors had been compelled to go on strike with a heavy heart, Filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt, who heads the United Producers Distributors Forum, said.
