A fire broke out in the basement of a prominent newspaper office here this afternoon, fire brigade officials said.

The blaze broke out when welding work was going on at the basement of the building in Bahadurshah Zafar Road around 1500 hrs.

Four fire tenders were rushed to the spot which took nearly 30 minutes to douse the fire.
