F&O Update: Nifty July future adds 3.1 mn shares in falling market

The Nifty July futures ended with 11 points premium at 4,302 as against the spot Nifty which settled at 4,291 (down 100 points), thanks to some short-covering towards the end. Around 639,000 contracts were traded today. The open interest increased by 3.13 million shares to 24.47 million shares.

NIFTY CALL ACTION

The Nifty 4,500 Call was the most active Call, and it ended at Rs 123. Around 71,440 contracts were traded, and the Call added 353,000 shares in open interest (OI). The 4,600 Call saw trades of around 67,650 contracts and the 4,400 Call recorded trades of 63,725 contracts. While the former saw a net addition of 192,800 shares to OI, the latter added 256,250 shares.

NIFTY PUT ACTION

The Nifty 4,200 Put was the most active Put, and it ended at Rs 153. Around 80,900 contracts were traded on the NSE today. The Put added 325,000 shares in open interest. The 4,300 Put saw trades of around 56,000 contracts and the 4,100 Put saw trades of around 59,300 contracts. While the former saw a net addition of 286,500 shares to OI, the latter added 136,800 shares.

MOST ACTIVE STOCK FUTURES

GMR Infra July future was the most active stock future with trades of around 37,800 contracts. The July future ended at a discount of Rs 2, at Rs 141. The contract added 7.57 million shares in OI. Total OI now stands at 33.81 million shares. Reliance and HDIL were the other active stock futures. While Reliance OI rose to 62.34 million shares on addition of 187,950 million shares, HDIL saw a net addition of over 4.66 million shares in OI to 16.07 million shares.

MOST ACTIVE STOCK OPTIONS

Reliance July Rs 2,190 Call was the most active stock option with trades of around 2,050 contracts. The Call ended at Rs 60 on 237% jump in OI at 324,450 shares, it added 228,300 shares today. Reliance Rs 2,100 Call and Tata Steel Rs 400 Call are the other active stock options. Reliance Rs 2,100 Call added 52,050 shares to total OI of 185,550 shares. Tata Steel Rs 400 Call saw a marginal reduction of around 2,292 shares in its total OI of 808,312 shares.
