Gautam Thapar, vice-chairman and managing director of Ballarpur Industries Ltd (Bilt) is the new chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (northern region) for 2003-04.
Rakesh Bharti Mittal, vice-chairman of Bharti Teletech, was elected deputy chairman of CII (northern region) at the 29th annual session in New Delhi yesterday.
Thapar, 42, is also the managing director of Bilt Paper Holdings Ltd and has served as chairman of several CII (northern region) sub-committees. He was the deputy chairman of CII (northern region) last year.
Mittal, along with his new office bears the added responsibility of heading CII’s national committee on exports.
