| GJEPC initiatives to enhance skill-sets in industry |

Expanding its role and taking the responsibility of improving the skill-sets in the industry, the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) has entered into agreements with the Gujarat government and the Gemmological Institute of America (GIA).
With the Gujarat government, the understanding outlines the setting up of three institutes and training centres in Ahmedabad, Surat and Bhavnagar, a press release issued here said.
This endeavour will be accomplished by utilising various incentive and subsidy schemes available with the Gujarat government and will facilitate in imparting training to the manpower available in Gujarat that will help them get employment in the local industry, it said.
The GIA agreement lays out the framework for content and curriculum management in these new institutes.
The GIA will develop courses and curriculum, customised to the needs of the Indian gem and jewellery sector and provide its educational experience in the operational management of these institutes.
As another value-add, students completing courses from GJEPCs institutes will also get the opportunity to pursue further studies at the GIA, at concessional rates.
