General Motors has readied a bouquet for motoring enthusiasts this year by lining up a handful of cars from its stables. The machines that are expected to roll out of the car major's Halol plant include its small car Aveo U-VA. The launch is expected in a few months time.
Launching the first among them this year , Chevrolet Aveo, P Balendran, vice president (Corporate Affairs), said the new sedan, a global product, had been re-engineered, based on extensive testing across the country, including the terrains of Kerala, to meet the specific needs of customers as well as local driving conditions and regulations.
Aveo will be available in both the 1.4 and 1.6 litre variants, and will be priced between Rs 5.55 lakh and Rs 6.85 lakh. The sedan has unique features and incorporates latest technology, meets highest standards of quality and is competitively priced, according to Balendran.
The company sees a major potential in the Kerala car mart as has been proved that the state has been a growing market place, he said explaining the reason for selecting Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram for the Aveo launch.
Detailing the small car the company would roll out soon this year, Balendran said the GM small car would be positioned in a slot where it would compete with other models like Maruti Swift and Hyundai Getz.
